An EN Steel standard is a European standard or euro norm that specifies the requirements for a product or process. Generally EN Steel standards apply when working in the EU, when working for an EU company (directly or indirectly) or when the country doesn’t specify its own standards but instead uses one of the competing suites of standards ASTM, EN, JIS, GOST – or previously BS and DIN.

1.4 A system of numerical designation of steels known as steel numbers is specified in EN 10027-2. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this European Standard.
Designation (A-Z), Designation (Z-A), Lead Time * ↑, Lead Time * ↓, Weight ↑, Weight ↓. Columns.
The designations can therefore be generalised as follows: The higher the EN number, the better the quality of steel - and the more carbon, or blended elements are added to the chemical content. Multicertification is available on request to EN/ASTM/ASME as well as to superseded national standards. EN steel numbers are listed in: Stahl Eisen Liste.

that stainless steels are grouped into families. The basic groups are austenitic, ferritic, martensitic and duplex (combining austenitic and ferritic), depending on their microstructure. Very helpfully, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) developed a system which classifies the first three groups into three series: AISI designation Group
